Services

Independent Living Skills Trainer

ILST services improve the participant's ability to live independently in the community.

ILST helps recover skills lost due to disability and targets those with progressive illnesses to maintain essential skills. It can be provided at home and in the community, primarily on an individual basis. Group service is only approved if it benefits the participant more than 1:1.
 
ILST services provide assessment, training, and supervision for self-care, medication management, task completion, communication, interpersonal and social skills, sensory/motor skills, mobility, community transportation, reducing maladaptive behaviors, problem solving, money management, pre-vocational skills, and household upkeep.
 
The ILST provider must assess the waiver participant's abilities and needs, and use the results to create a Detailed Plan with milestones for the next six months. This assessment must be done at least once a year.

Positive Behavioral Intervention Specialist

PBIS services are provided to waiver participants with significant behavioral difficulties that jeopardize their ability to remain in the community of choice. It should be provided where the significant maladaptive behavior occurs.

PBIS services include a comprehensive assessment of behavior, skills, existing supports, and the environment. They also involve developing and implementing a holistic behavioral treatment plan with realistic goals for use by other providers and supports.

Training family, natural supports, and providers to effectively use behavioral plan principles.

Regular reassessments of the effectiveness of the behavioral treatment plan, adjusting the plan as needed.
